What is an ISRC?
An ISRC (International Standard Recording Code) is a 12-character ISO 3901 identifier that uniquely tags a specific sound recording. The first two characters are the country code, the next three are the registrant (label or distributor), the next two are the year, and the last five are a unique recording number. Every track on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and elsewhere has its own ISRC.
How do I find the ISRC for a song?
Search by song title, artist name, or paste a Spotify or Apple Music link at the top of this page. Credits.fm resolves the link to its ISRC and shows full songwriter credits, publisher chains, ISWC, UPC, and platform data. You can also paste an ISRC directly if you already have it.
Is an ISRC the same as an ISWC?
No. ISRCs identify recordings; ISWCs identify musical compositions. The same song can have many recordings — original, remix, live, cover — each with its own ISRC, all sharing one ISWC. Use isrc.fm to look up the recording side; use iswc.fm for the composition side.
Is every track on Spotify in the ISRC database?
Yes. Every commercial recording on streaming platforms is required to have an ISRC. Credits.fm has 52M+ ISRCs indexed across MLC, MusicBrainz, Spotify, Apple Music, and CISAC sources.
Is ISRC lookup free?
Yes. Every search on isrc.fm and the underlying credits.fm/api is free with no signup or authentication required.
